Crisis Specialist

Carlos Alvarez
RBTMy name is Carlos Alvarez, and I was born in Havana, Cuba. I decided to continue my studies because I have always believed that life is too short to go unnoticed and not become someone meaningful. I am passionate about psychology and fascinated by the functions of the human brain. We are incredible beings, and I believe we learn both good and bad things from every person we meet. In the future, I plan to open my own psychology clinic and, through my experience, help guide people toward becoming the best version of themselves. To answer the question, What quote motivates me every day? The one that resonates with me most is from Admiral William H. McRaven, a U.S. Navy SEAL, in his famous 2014 commencement speech at the University of Texas, known as “Make Your Bed.” His lessons, based on SEAL training, provide powerful motivational advice:
Start the day with one task completed: Making your bed every morning gives you a small sense of pride and encourages you to accomplish more throughout the day.
Little things matter: If you cannot do the small tasks well, you will never succeed at the big ones. Discipline in the small things builds the foundation for greater success.
Accept that life isn’t fair: In training, recruits were sometimes punished regardless of performance (“sugar cookie”). The lesson is that failure and setbacks are part of life, but the key is to keep moving forward.
Embrace adversity: Life is full of “circuses” (extra challenges and hardships). Overcoming them makes you stronger and more resilient.
Find someone to help you row: Success often depends on teamwork and mutual support. No one succeeds entirely on their own.
Don’t ring the bell: In training, quitting was as simple as ringing a bell. McRaven reminds us never to give up, no matter how hard life becomes.
One person can change the world: If each person changes the lives of just 10 others, and the process continues, millions can be positively impacted in just a few generations.
This speech inspires me daily to stay disciplined, face challenges, and work toward making a difference in the lives of others.
